BalanceBot (Attempt 2!) and Abandoning the Behemoth.

And hello again, people who may have stumbled upon this page by accident. It's time to do a round up of current projects, and their statuses(stati?).

1. First out of the box is our BalanceBot, who is currently going through some interesting times, supplementing it's current Raspberry Pi system with an Arduino, and encoders, as well as major code tweaking. Again.

2. Next up, the Behemoth is being abandoned. That's right, no more big, clunky, ugly laptop that ran a possibly illegitimate version of Windows. Now I'm switching over to my new personal laptop which, unfortunately, is running Vista. Not that I have issues with it, but it's not the greatest for navigation and whatnot. Low RAM certainly doesn't help things either, but even with that, it runs faster than the other hunk of junk.

3. Current state of Olga: Unknown. Perhaps abandoned as well. RIP Olga. You served well.

BalanceBot, Behemoths, and (Net)Beans

A few things that the team has been working on, in order of progress:
  1. Getting our 4th programmer computer, (dubbed "The Behemoth" by myself) set up with the old FRC software so it can be used with robots that still run with a cRIO. Done.
  2. Create a self balancing, two wheeled robot. Mostly done. Still needs to be tweaked, and calibrated. It balances, and can be steered, however, it's just a tad unstable when it moves quickly, and if it starts to fall too far, it's fail-safe system acts as a spring, launching it forward, and, if it had happened with a battery in it, would have caused the battery to break open. Dangerous stuff. Project currently on Hiatus.
  3. Re-resurrect Olga. Barely started, and may not be continued.
  4. Personal Project, of sorts: Make a two wheeled, preferably both castors, robot that can propel, and later steer itself using one, or two small finger-like servo arms. Not yet started, as it would require either a cRio to be freed up, which isn't really an option, or a Raspberry Pi, which is also unavailable.

More updates to come as they happen!
