The 2nd annual Battle of the Bay was bigger and better than ever! Some of the teams arrived Friday night, got some practice in, watched movies, talked robots, ate snacks and build a tote and can version of STRONGHOLD complete with flying team flags! Then teams camped out on the competition field! Saturday the lights came promptly at 6 to start a busy day of great competition, seeing the team enter quarter finals in first place, and after a tough semi and finals, finished as the second placed alliance. Our alliance included home team BOB and Ozram with a new cheesecaked canburgler! Big thank you to all of BOB's volunteers, who made the day go smoothly and provided lots of great food and snacks all day long! Looking forward to a 3rd year!

November 8th team members had another chance to earn money for their travel accounts, thanks to TLC (Tender Lawn Care) of Brewer for their help and equipment! The team cleaned up the leaves and received donations for their efforts, and TLC hauled them away! Great Job everyone! Another year, another fantastic show put on by the Iron Tigers for the 2015 Robot Rodeo. Having attended the obstacle course and dance off for a second year, the team would gladly attend a third! Though we didn't win either competition, we still placed well and brought home the "Best Lil Dawgie" award, which was their equivalent to the gracious professionalism award. As an extra challenge this year, the dance off also included a runway, which the robots had to travel down, and back, as well as costumes made for them. Below among other images, you can see Clawdia dressed up as Frankenstein. A few senior members and newbies went to the Juniper Ridge Landfill for a demonstration of our robots and introductions. Kids got a chance to get behind the controls of all of our prior robots, including our Wall-E! Kids learned how to shoot a Frisbee, launch shirts, fling exercise balls, and even stack some totes and recycle bins. Big thanks to Juniper Ridge for hosting us for the day, we always like the chance to introduce kids to engineering! Big day for the team during Brewer Days! It's been three days and still no exact number on how much we earned from the Drive 4UR School event, big Thank you to the folks from Darling for bring all the cool cars, SUVs and trucks. They also brought their Ice Cream Truck and photo booth. However, that wasn't the only event running that day, inside the school was our 3rd Annual Craft Fair. We had even more crafters and vendors than last year. Thank you to all coming and supporting our craft fair. Team members manned concessions and helped the crafters with load-in, as well as load-out of their products. But wait! There's more! We also had people at the Brewer Auditorium manning our booth with small Lego robots to keep the kids entertained. Three events in one day, all running at the same time. Now there's some multitasking! Go Orange Chaos! |
